I'm wondering about mtu configurations on L2 and L3 interfaces. Does the configured value (or displayed value in "show" output) represent the maximum size of the payload or the maximum size of the frame/packet including payload and overhead? Also (as it pertains to Nexus OS), do mtu settings on an SVI apply to L3 or L2? In IOS, the command would be "ip mtu xxx" but in NX-OS it's just "mtu xxx" with no reference to ip so I'm just wondering if "mtu 9000" on an SVI would mean that the total size of the ip packet (payload and overhead) could not be larger than 9000 bytes.
