We currently have are Cisco Line Card WS-X4712-SFP+E and all 12x10G ports are in use. Without adding a new line card to our existing chassis I was considering the idea of utilizing a couple of the 10G connections on our Supervisors (WS-X45-SUP7-E). Does anyone know if there would be a difference in throughput between these two modules? I've looked at the spec sheets and data throughput looks to be identical.
If I remember correctly, the 12x10g line card is oversubscribed (to the fabric) and the sup7 10g ports are not, so if that's correct, yes there could be a throughput difference.
