Hi

I am doing LAB on packet tracer so testing "switchport protected" , In my understanding when we have 2 Switches connected

when applied "switchport protected" on that interface on 2 both switch ,

SW-1 (switchport protected)Gi1<---->Gi1(switchport protected) SW-2

the result should be :  both switch can't speak together right ?   but when I try on Packet tracer  they can speak together .

I don't know what is correct ?

PT is just simulator to simulate IOS behavior and based on IOS but it is not real IOS nor replicate behavior; Sure some things are working exactly like real Cisco device but some commands are missing or when present, behavior is not replication of real IOS.

"switchport protected" is to isolate traffic within a VLAN. Similar to Private VLANs isolated VLAN.

Is this new command in PT 8.2 ?

Regards, ML
