RE: Cisco Catalyst WS-C3850-48P-S V02 BOOT LOOP PROBLEM

Hi All,

I 've got a 3850 48 port POE switch, that is a continuous boot loop. Even when I hold down the mode button and go into switch: mode and try and boot off a USB stick the same thing happens. I have tried reformatting the switch flash:/deleting/renaming internal files it keeps saying it is a 'Read only file system'  and doesn't allow me to do it. I have even tried altering the file systems privileges, but to no avail??

Any ideas please !! , calling all experts out there

G

Hi G,

This looks like a failure after an upgrade to 03.06.04.E
May be the package in your flash is corrupt.

Try reverting the switch back to the p[revious version.

Allow the switch to fail with the continious loop
After 5 attempts it should go to rommon.

from switch: (rommon prompt)

Switch:copy flash: flash:
Source filename []? packages.conf
Destination filename [packages.conf]? packages.conf.fail

(Allow copy to complete)

Switch:copy flash: flash:
Source filename []? packages.conf.00-
Destination filename [packages.conf]? packages.conf

(Allow copy to complete)

Now try to boot from rommon

switch: boot flash:packages.conf

Hopefully this will load your previous IOS/XE version

hi,

try alex's suggestion and re-download the IOS just to make sure it's not corrupted. if it still fails, raise a TAC case to replace the switch.
