We got the dead member in C3850 stack switches
Before add a new switch need to be done:
>>Upgrade or downgrade the switch with same version of stack members.
>>Check the license , it should be same to connect the stack.
>>Check the config-value , it should be same for allow.
I need your help Experts!
1. How to upgrade the IOS of new switch with same version of stack members?
2. How to upgrade license on a new switch with the same stack has?
3. Should be the configuration uploaded on the new switch before it will be added t existing stack?
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Andrey P.

Yes, do it before add the new switch to stack. Make sure which version those switches are using and make sure which license they have
Show version command must show you all the information you need. You can share it here is you need any assistance identifying that.
After that you need to get the proper IOS and upgrade the new switch, if necessary. The same for license.
The replacement, if all the requirement were fine, will be pretty simple.

What I did:
1. Copied IOS image from USB to flash:
2. Install IOS +
Switch#request platform software package expand file flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9.16.09.06.SPA.bin
3. Select the new .conf as boot source and reload switch:
Switch(config)#boot system flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9.16.09.06.SPA.conf
Is that correct?

I was meant the switch you are trying to upgrade not the stack.
If the switch is using install mode the upgrade process is one, if the switch is in bundle mode the upgrade process is different.
The command you need to use for license, after upgrading the switch is
license right-to-use activate ipbase all [slot slot-number] acceptE

Switch(config)#license boot level ?
ipbasek9 License Level IPBASEK9
ipservicesk9 License Level IPSERVICESK9
lanbasek9 License Level LANBASEK9
and it looks what I need for license upgrade

Sorry, I though you were using RTU licensing but you are using Smart Licensing.
Good you found it.

3850s
en
copy usbflash0:cat3k_caa-universalk9.16.12.08.SPA.bin flash:
request platform software package install switch all file flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9.16.12.08.SPA.bin auto-copy
request platform software package clean switch all file flash:

Thank you Dustin!
That what I did and it works
I only confused for the Licenses
Lets say we have existing stack with Licenses installed and need to add a new switch with upgraded IOS but Licenses mismatch
How to add licensees from existing stack to new switch?
I found a few commands but not sure which procedure is correct?
As well, should I upload the running configuration from the existing stack to the new switch?
As I know the running config will be added automatically
Is it correct?
Sincerely,
Andrey P.
