Hi All

We have a 3850 in a stack of 2 which has failed and we need to replace it.

The switch is the same type and has the same IOS.

Do I need to do anything else on the switch before we add it to the stack?

we can not have any outage.

Many thanks

Carl

Hi

I have already checked that and I am still unclear.

The only thing I can see is that it must have the same switch number, so should I just set this on the new switch before I add it?

Please advise

cheers

Hi,

So, take a look at the priority on the switch that is currently in production.  It should be a number between 1-15.  So, if it says 15 or 10, you can leave the new switch as default which is 1. If you want to give it for example 5 than you simply add that before adding it to the stack. Just make sure the new switch you are adding has a lower priority than the switch that is working. 1 is the lowest and 15 is the highest.

Hi, the switch that has failed did have a priority of 15, the one that is running has a priority of 1, see below

So what do I need to do now ?

cheers
