Reset Switch and Router

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2950 Switches and 2610 Routers both running IOS v12. I want to use these devices for my CCNA lab. But before I can use these devices, I need your help.

First is, can I use these devices for the current CCNA 200-125 exam? I mean, can I use these devices for the laboratory purposes like current routing and switching technologies? I mean again, can IOS v12 be used on preparing for the 200-125 exams?

I am hoping I could still use these devices.

My next concern, these devices are not mine, 2 of these switches have been deleted/erased/formatted their IOS image, I accidentally ruined these devices and without backing up the image. On my terminal, I only got " switch: ". I search on the web that the image cannot be loaded. How can I get back these switches to its full functionality? Please help me on a step-by-step procedure because I am not that good on this thing.

My last concern is, on the rest of my devices, there is an existing configuration, probably configured by previous owner. How can I reset these devices to its first good configuration (fresh configuration)? I don't want make a mistake again on these remaining devices.

Thank you very much everyone for listening and for those who will help me.

Hi gns3 covers everything for routing use a 7200 with ios v15 image , you can also connect gns3 to work with your current hardware , the 2610 should do most but maybe some of the newer features the 2950 and 2610 may not support but it will cover you for most standard stuff that you will need gns3 should do the rest for routing anyway

regarding your switch been stuck in rommon , in the doc below you are currently in step 2 you need to follow the steps exactly each one from there  , initialize the flash , load the helper then check the flash and reboot from rommon its a straight forward doc but don't miss any of the steps

to erase a switch correctly , if you have access you need to use ....... erase statup-config then reload

If you don't have access to do that and other passwords are on it use the password break recovery get into the switch/router then wipe it with above erase command

2600 password recovery

2950 password recovery

give it a shot anyway and then post how you get on and if you run into a problem post what you see so it makes it easier to assist for people
