Router and Hub connection

How can I have a simple hub connect through cisco 2600 router?

I know that in a switch/router connectivity, configuring 'trunk, encapsulation, etc' is needed.

But in this case what do i basically need to do to have the clients connected to this hub to connect and pass through this ruter and get into the external network?

I'm connecting to int fa0/1 of the router.

IP address is 192.168.180.1, and I've already done 'no shut' of this interface.

Basically what i did was to

- assign ip address to the router's port

- did 'no shut'

- connect the hub

and,

- pinged the router from a workstation connected to the hub, WHICH DID NOT CONNECT BUT TIMED OUT.

What am I missing out here?

Again this is just a consumer grade 4 port hub.

hi,

are you using DHCP on the router? ensure your PCs are on the 192.168.180.xnetwork and have the same subnet mask. use cross cable between your router and hub. lastly, use NAT on your router to get surf the net.
