RSTP & PVST+ issue...

Dear Team,

In my network we are running PVST and now we purchase new dell server which inbuild switch and which supported only RSTP,

so update for below queries on urgnet basis

1) Can it is compatible with pvst and rstp

2) if yest, what kind of configuration is mandatory or need to take precautions

3) if not, kindly share alternate solution - Note :- we can't change our network topology

Note :- Last time we did configuration but facing looping issue...

Help of urgent basis

By default, PVST and RSTP are compatible. Let's say you have Switch A with all ports PVST, now Switch A has a connection to Switch B which is running RSTP. The port on Switch B going to Switch A, will be in PVST mode even though it's on a switch running RSTP. So that port will have all the characteristics of PVST, such as timing, etc etc.

You can also change the switch that is PVST and to RPVST which runs RSTP. But I would make sure to look at the documnetation on the Dell Server to see what all is compatible with it.
