Hi,

I have couple of SFP and most of them are working fine except this:-

Nexus7000# show interface ethernet 6/31 transceiver details

Ethernet6/31

    sfp is present

type is 10Gbase-(unknown)  <<<< Why is this nt getting recognized.

    name is CISCO-AVAGO

    part number is SFBR-5766PZ-CS1

    revision is

    serial number is  AGXXXXXXXXX

    nominal bitrate is 1300 MBit/sec

Link length supported for 50/125 um fiber is 550 m

Link length supported for 62.5/125 um fiber is 270 m

    cisco id is --

cisco extended id number is 4

SFP calibration is invalid <<<<<<<<<<< SFP is invalid.

a) What is the reason this is not getting recognized?

b) Is theSFP SFBR-5766PZ-CS1 plug and play in the 7000 Nexus?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Fari

Based from the following output:

Ethernet6/31

    sfp is present

    type is 10Gbase-(unknown)

    name is CISCO-AVAGO

    part number is SFBR-5766PZ-CS1

    revision is

    serial number is  AGXXXXXXXXX

    nominal bitrate is 1300 MBit/sec

Link length supported for 50/125 um fiber is 550 m

Link length supported for 62.5/125 um fiber is 270 m

    cisco id is --

cisco extended id number is 4

   SFP calibration is invalid

Nexus# show int E6/31 capabilities

Ethernet6/31

  Model:                 N7K-M132XP-12

Type (SFP capable):    10Gbase-(unknown)

  Speed:                 10000

  Duplex:                full

  Trunk encap. type:     802.1Q

You put a 1GE SFP into the M132 line card and M132 only support 10GE SFP. The conclusion is your are using the wrong SFP.

What is the exact model of SFP+ and the NX-OS you are running?

HI Leo,

Nexus :7010

S/W: 4.2

Nexus# show int E6/31 capabilities

Ethernet6/31

  Model:                 N7K-M132XP-12

Type (SFP capable):    10Gbase-(unknown)

  Speed:                 10000

  Duplex:                full

  Trunk encap. type:     802.1Q

NOTe: I have the other SFP but they are working fine expect only this.

Ehter 6/1-30             P/N SFBR-7700SDZ-CS2

Ether6/31                   P/N SFBR-5766PZ-CS1  <<< Is there any issue with this SFP?

Thanks in advance.

I think I have an idea what's going on ...

PID "SFBR-5766PZ-CS1" is a 1000BaseFX SFP and you are running NX-OS 4.X.

Is this SFP module installed in a M148 line card?  If not, then you need to upgrade the NX-OS to the appropriate level as stated in the Release Notes (Table 4).

Based from the following output:

Ethernet6/31

    sfp is present

    type is 10Gbase-(unknown)

    name is CISCO-AVAGO

    part number is SFBR-5766PZ-CS1

    revision is

    serial number is  AGXXXXXXXXX

    nominal bitrate is 1300 MBit/sec

Link length supported for 50/125 um fiber is 550 m

Link length supported for 62.5/125 um fiber is 270 m

    cisco id is --

cisco extended id number is 4

   SFP calibration is invalid

Nexus# show int E6/31 capabilities

Ethernet6/31

  Model:                 N7K-M132XP-12

Type (SFP capable):    10Gbase-(unknown)

  Speed:                 10000

  Duplex:                full

  Trunk encap. type:     802.1Q

You put a 1GE SFP into the M132 line card and M132 only support 10GE SFP. The conclusion is your are using the wrong SFP.
