1) Yes - you can disable it per switch port or per vlan = globally
2) Yes - you cannot turn it off, just set it to transparent mode.

If you disable it per VLAN - this is the same as globally, as that switch will no longer participate for that VLAN.
Before any commands are configured - why do you think you need to disable it? As there are other features available

Hi Andrew,
i didnt understand the below thing which you mentined.
1) Yes - you can disable it per switch port or per vlan = globally
so you mean that we can disable it per vlan or per interface which is equal to globally disabling or
we can disable it it per vlan or per interface in global configuration mode.
please tell me which one is right and if it is possible then post the command which we use to disable it.

"2) Yes - you cannot turn it off, just set it to transparent mode."
NB: Later IOS versions support VTP mode off.

If "off" is supported, it fully disables it. Transparent mode can pass VTP along from one switch to another, although the transit switch won't use the VTP information.

Hi joseph,
In what IOS versions that feature is available?(VTP mode off).If we disable it using this command then the switch will be in transparent mode or no mode(blank mode)?
