Hi Everyone,

We have 2 port stack switch.

! switch died today.It has no power burning smell

Current single working switch in stack is WS-C3750G-48TS-S.

Need to know if i  add another switch to stack does that have to be of same model as of above one?

Does model number need to match?

If i add second switch to stack will it get vtp mode and domain name from master switch?

Regards

MAhesh

In theory, any 3750 will stack with any other, although 3750X LANBase licenses will not work with other models and the 3750G-12S has SDM templates that cannot be used with other 3750 models.

Hello mahesh,

To add to what Joseph has already stated;

All switches maintain the same vlan and vtp coinfiguration, which is inherited from the stack master.  When a new switch joins the stack, it will get vtp information from the stack master.

Here is a link that discusses adding a 3750 to an existing 3750 stack.

Hope this helps,

Thanks.
