Hi everyone, just looking to add Giga backbone into my network and i been told to go with the cisco catalyst 2960g. This is fine but there is a whooping Price tag to the unit. Now im one of them people that will pay for quality but carnt see what the big difference if to the Cisco SRW2024P. can anyone help?
2960Ghas lower fiber switching but 4 upload slots 20 downloadslots to where the 2024p high rate and 2 upload slots to 24download slots
the 2024p have a few more ticks on a servey i saw but is alot cheaper. bare in mind 2960g is £1384 where 2024p is £300.
Thank you in advance

Hi Mark,
Both the switches belong to different categories. Cisco SRW2024P is more towards a SOHO deployment with less enteprise class features where as 2960 is more focussed towards the Enterprise class features. The 4 uplink ports on 2960 are dual personality ports which means you can configure either of these ports for a copper connectivity and then use it as a normal host port. if you are not looking for a basic switch with no enteprise class features, you can go for SRW2024P.

Aplogies for the typo Mark.
Let me rephrase it. If you are looking for a basic switch with less enterprise-class features, you can go for SRW2024P. If you want a switch with all the enterprise class features 2960G is the way to go.
