hello,
i am curious about timer in congestion
how can timer influence congestion,
can somebody please explain how timers are set corectly and incorrectly,

Joseph asks a good question and it would help if the original poster would provide some clarification about which timer so we can be sure. My guess is that the question is about the timer with which Cisco calculates interface utilization, which defaults to 5 minutes. At 5 minutes interval we get a high level view of utilization but without much granularity. Measuring over a 5 minute interval would not reflect intermittent short fluctuations in how busy the interface is. If we change the interval to a shorter value (minimum is 30 seconds) we get more granular (but may be somewhat more difficult to see the big picture of how busy).
