UCS Manager 6120 Uplink to 6504e VSS

Can anyone give me some guidance on configuring this uplink from 2 x 6120's to our core 2 x 6504 VSS cat switches? I have 1 16 port 10GE blade in each 6500 chassis and plan to uplink 2 links from each 6120 Fabric to each chassis for a total of 8 uplinks to the 6500 4 in each chassis.

Can I create and etherchannel trunk uplink? How to do this?

Your help is appreciated.

Hi,

Not familiar with 6120s, but if you can stack them together, you should be able to uplink 4 to each switch and create one Etherchannel.  If 6520s can be stacked, you can also use the same Etherchannel for you dual-active detection mechanism for VSS, if not you have to use fast hello.  Also remember that the 16 port 10Gig module is 4 to 1 oversubscribed.

The 6120s cannot be stacked. You're going to want to configure them in end host configuration mode with vPC uplinks.  Brad Hedlund is the best source for information on this.

Here is an article on best practices for uplinking UCS:

Specifically, this video explains what is likely your optimal configuration:
