Anyone came across before with upgrading from 12.2(33)SXI Modular IOS to higher release of 12.2(33)SXI Native IOS in Catalyst 6500 series switch? (P/S: This is non VSS setup)
Anything required to be take note or just simply upgrade the IOS as normal by manipulating bootvar in IOS command? Appreciate anyone can shed some light to me.

Hi,
In that case, you would need to follow eFSU/ISSU (see link below), but again since you are going from a Modular to a None-Modular, it is not going to work the same way. Another thing to note is even with ISSU, it would require multiple reboots. So, if you have an outage window to do the upgrade, then rebooting both is easier.
Good Luck

Hi,
Since you are going from Modular to Non-modular, you just need to load the new image into your flash card, change the boot variable and reboot.
Note that even if you have 2 Sups in your 6500 with SSO mode, you still need to do it this way, because eFSU/ISSU does not work when you are going from a Modular to a None-Modular IOS.
Good Luck

Hi Reza,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
Another question, can I reload one of the sup engine and wait it to be booted up with new IOS, then only reload the standby supengine; instead of reload both supengine at the same time?
