Hi guys,

I was reading about C6880-X and found that can work with VSS technology. but how without sup2t modules! like 6708-XL! because in CCW I just found one type of line cards compatible is 10G line card!

I want to understand how can I use it for VSS between two C6880-X!

Thanks,

Mhammad

Based on your concern I meant that VSS will works on 6880x.

Now on 6000 series, VSS should be mounted only over 10G links. If I remember correctly, all the 16 embedded ports are 1G/10G based on SFP or SFP+. Then yes, if you connect SFP+ you will be able to create a VSL link and build a VSS cluster.

Thanks

Hi

Your question is why c6880 switches can be setup as a VSS cluster?

This is a small form factor chassis and it has an embedded supervisor that works in the same architecture as a Sup2T. Take a look on the datasheet right here: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-6880-x-switch/data_sheet_c78-728228.html

Then Yes, you can setup your 2 boxes in a VSS cluster.

Hope I've answered to your question

Thanks

Hi Francesco!

you mean I can use SFP in the fixed chassis to work as VSS instead of two 10 gig ports like 6807 chassis!

thanks

Now I got it! so it should be 10G  for VSS!

Yes 10G for 6k switches. On 4k switches you can build a VSS with 1G links.

On your 6880x, you have 10G ports already then you can go with VSS.
