Hi all,
We know that for configuring VSL link we need 10g ports. Is there anyway to use 1G ports for configuring VSL links. Help is appreciated.
Thanks & Regards

No. You cannot use 1G modules/ports for VSL as they dont have ASICS for the VSL link.
Only SUP720-10G ports, 6708/6716 modules can be used for VSL link to create the VSS. 6716 supporting only 4 10G ports in performance mode.

Hello Madhan,
special hardware is needed for the VSL link that includes an ASIC chip that encapsulated frames in a proprietary protocol
this ASIC is missing on 6704 and it is present only on special supervisors and on WS-6708 and WS-6716 as noted by Amit.
also see the VSL link as a way to interconnect the backplane(s) of the two chassis so a speed of 1G is too low.
however, you should be able to use GE links for dual active detection for example
Also on VSS only 67xx modules can be used, so the move is not cheap
Hope to help
