If you configure your static

If you configure your static route to exiting interface to broadcast network, the traffic will be sent as broadcast. The router then will have to figure out the next hop  to its destination using ARP request since it doesn't know the next hop's IP address.

The router will continue to build up it's ARP table until it reaches the last destination or last hop. This will affect the router's CPU.

So basically, it slows down the process of reaching the destination because of ARP requests to every hop.
