ws-c3750G-12S multicast metering

is there anything I can do on a 3750G-12S on this switch stack to prevent the switch from bursting out multicast

Problem Details: We have a stacked Core Switch (WS-3750E-24PD + WS-C3750G-12S). We

send/receive multicast at 270M in both directions throug a fiber port on the 12 port

switch out interfaces on the 24 port copper switch.  We are dropping packets on clients

and noticed that the data rate counter on the fiber swtich fluctuates between 250M and

350M - which indicates to me that its bursting the traffic in/out.  I moved the router we

are connected to on the fiber interface down to an open fiber port on the 24 port switch

and there was no bursting or rate variance.   Im assuming this means that either between

the two switches there is an issue in sending data through the stack or the 12 port

swtiches are not metering the traffic right.

Hello lockheed martin,

is the workaround that you have used to move the router to a port of the other stack member acceptable for you?

if the two devices are connected with the stackwise cable they should be able to communicate at 32 Gbps >> 250 Mbps however, they might be in competition for use of the ring for other traffic flows

Have you placed two stackwise cables or only one ?

if all interested receivers are on the 24 ports member it may be wise to move the router link on it as you did.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
