X2 Compatibility

I plan to use a GLC-LH-SM= on one side of a 50micron MMF connection (with a mode conditioning cable). Does anyone know what X2 module on the other end I need to get the link up and running? The distance is less than 550 meters.

Thanks,
Bobby Grewal

GLC-LH-SM is a 1 Gbps module and X2 is 10Gbps, problem here....what are you trying to do, 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps

1 Gb.

The X2 should be able to do 1Gb over 50 micron MMF, correct?

Yes, as long as you have multimode optics.  X2 is 10Gig, so if you want to go from 10X2 to 1Gig SFP than you need a TwinGig converter.

What are the devices you are trying to connect together?

HTH

6500 to 2960S. I don't think the twingig converter works with the 6500.

Correct. The 6500 does not support TwinGig converter.

See table 9 in this link:

There is also the distance, you cannot support 10Gbps on MMF over 500m

You can :

1. Install a new SMF and run 1 Gbps or 10Gbps on it,

2. Connect your 6500 and 2960S with a 1Gbps link in 1GbE ports (no X2)
