There are several Visio stencils that are missing from the library that I need. They're important to me (and I imagine others want them too) as I need to do rack elevation diagrams. I hate to open a TAC case on them but not sure what else to do. Any thoughts?
The stencils I require are:
ASA5510 (Rear view - the side with the interfaces)
ME-C6524GT-8S (Rear view - the side with the power supplies) - 24 Ethernet - 10/100/1000 interfaces + 8 Gigabit Ethernet SFP uplinks, 1 fan tray
PWR-400W-AC - 400W AC power supply for the Cisco ME 6524
PWR-400W-DC - 400W DC power supply for the Cisco ME 6524
ME-C3750-24TE-M (Rear View - the side with the power supplies) - Cisco Catalyst 3750 Metro
PWR-ME3750-AC - Cisco Catalyst 3750 Metro Switch Primary AC power supply
PWR-ME3750-DC - Cisco Catalyst 3750 Metro Switch Primary AC power supply
Cheers

Hi Omar,
Topology icons are not part of our development tasks at Cisco but I created one for you and posted it here:

Brett,
Re: These are now available for download
this is a very long thread talking about a number of shapes and stencils.
Please specify what "these" are and from where they can be downloaded.

Hi Bruce,
Honestly, I don't recall which post I was responding to with my "these are now available for download". I should have been more specific. I can't determine which request I was replying to so I'll be more careful in the future. All of the available Visio downloads for device specific shapes are here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/prod_cat_visios.html
That download page does not change. We posted updates to the following since March 2012:
Cisco Small Business 300-500 Series Switches
I hope this is helpful.

Hi Brett
Just so you are aware, I downloaded the 4500E file from your link in this message. I could not find this particular file on the Cisco download web page (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/prod_cat_visios.html). Their 4500 link seems to be the older file. I don't know how much influence you have over that but you might like to see if your new file can be made available from there (or if it is there somewhere, made a little more obvious).
You might also like to look at the PWR-C45-2800AC shape within that. It doesn't fit into the chassis shape properly.
Cheers

Hi LP,
I just returned from vacation so I apologize for my slow response. Someone removed these files from the dowload page... I'm trying to find out why. It might have been someone in the product group. Please note that the 4500 file that is now there contains some very old shapes that didn't size or behave properly. We re-constructed many of those in the 4500-4700 file I posted several months ago. Someone renamed that to 4500E and then had it removed.
Also note that, if you are using the chassis shapes we updated that are in the 4500E link you downloaded, there are 2 connection points in between the power module slots that are very close together. I suggest you zoom in to snap a PS into place. If I'm misunderstanding the problem you see, please let me know but I just tested it and it seem OK here.

Thanks Brett, hope you had great time whilst on leave. I tried the power module again today and, wonder of wonders, it worked correctly. Apologies for even doubting you in the first place . Of course, then I tried it again on my document where I had previously tried it and it still doesn't work.
Cop this one (and I'm not sure I really expect an answer to this but maybe sombody has an idea): If I load the 4500-4700 template into a new diagram, the PWR-C45-2800ACV icon copies in correctly, ala:
If I copy into my original document I get this:
Same template file, different image . Of course, this is the one that doesn't fit correctly into the chassis.
Having said that, I don't want this to turn into a long 'have you tried this and that....' and 'please post your settings for ....' conversation thread, well not in this topic anyway. I know there will be something different in the settings for the files and that will be causing the issues. It isn't that important really.
Maybe you recognise the image from somewhere and that might give a clue.

OK, here's what's causing the problem. Put on your nerd hat because I've got to explain some technical aspects of Visio that are not apparent to the typical user.
Every Visio drawing has a stencil called the Document Stencil that is hidden from the user unless you specifically ask to show it. The Document Stencil contains a copy of every master shape that you have dropped into your drawing. In fact, it even retains a copy of that master after all of the copies in the drawing itself have been removed. Here's a blog article we wrote that explains this phenomenon: http://www.visiozone.com/?p=66
When you placed the old PWR-C45-2800ACV shape on your drawing page, a copy of it was placed in the Document Stencil. When you deleted it, the Document Stencil retained that shape. When you tried to replace it with a new PWR-C45-2800ACV, the Document Stencil used the older copy of the shape instead of the new one. Why? The purpose of the Document Stencil is to keep one master copy of a shape you've used so that when you make multiple copies of the same shape in your drawing, the drawing is really looking back at the one that's on the Document Stencil instead of adding multiple copies of the same geometry over and over. In other words, the drawing contains a "pointer" back to the PWR-C45-2800ACV on the Document Stencil. The intent of this method in Visio is to reduce file sizes. Note that this can also lead to bloated file sizes as explained in the blog article but that is easily fixed.
From your screen shots it looks like you are using Visio 2007. To fix the PWR-C45-2800ACV problem you need to delete the PWR-C45-2800ACV from the Document Stencil. Select File > Shapes > Show Document Stencil then delete it. Close the Document Stencil and add the shape from the regular stencil and it should appear correctly.
For Visio 2010 users out there, you need to enable Developer Mode to see the Document Stencil. Go to File > Options > Advanced, scroll down to the bottom, and check the box "Run in Developer Mode". Don't be intimidated... all this does is give you an additional Ribbon menu called Developer which has some advanced functionality. Access to the Document Stencil is under that tab.
So, is this more information than you wanted?

Hello Readers,
In the posting dated Oct. 3 above, I authored a rather technical response to an inquiry so I inserted a humorous comment about putting on a "hat". I defined the type of hat with a word that is really quite Innocuous. Somehow it was replaced with "****" in my reply. Ironically, an inoffensive word now seems as if it had originally been entered as an offensive word which is kind of embarassing. I've been communicating with many people on this site and I want to set the record straight that my entries have and always will be respectful in all ways. I'm inferring that there is an automated "moderator" that scans the posts for unacceptable language and the word I used must have been in that lexicon for a reason I do not understand. Obviously, I don't want to repeat the word I used because it will generate another **** replacement

Oh Brett, Thank you for clearing that up. I did wonder what type of hat I had to put on. Obviously mistakenly I had been trying to find that ***** hat on the offensive hat rack.

Omar,
I think the symbol you are looking for is in the Topology icons.
http://www.cisco.com/web/about/ac50/ac47/2.html
Download the Powerpoint icons and they have something like you are describing. You can easliy select copy and paste it into Visio. It doesn't have connection points like a visio connector but it should suffice.

Can we also get updated visio stencils for the ASA 5500-X line? I see one for 5585-X but not for the smaller models.
Thanks!
