Based on your Serial Number the highest version that you can use on your server is X8.8.2.

It depends on what software release you want to upgrade to.

As per the release notes, a VCS with a 52A2xxxx serial number can only run up to software release X8.8.2.  If that's as far as you want to run, then, yes, you can upgrade.

If you want to run a more recent software release, then you cannot do so on that old hardware, and your best bet would be to consider migrating from the hardware appliance to a Virtual Machine.  There is a $0 SKU you can purchase (R-VMVCS-E-M-K9) to enable you to migrate your licencing from the physical appliance to a virtual assuming you have the capability to run the VCS-E on some other existing VM infrastructure.
