Can you connect a handset to a Cisco touch 8 tablet that is connected to an MX200 (G1)?

I have a Cisco Touch 8 tablet that is connected to an MX200 (G1) and we would like to install a handset to use for privacy. The tablet has the same connector like an EX90 handset but when we connect it to the MX200, it does not seem to recognize that a handset is connected.

No, the handset on the Touch 8 is only supported on the EX devices where it is plugged directly in to the endpoint, and not on any systems where the touch works over the ethernet connection.

So you are saying that the MX just does not support a handset?

Seems silly

Correct - the hanset only works on the EX, and only when directly connected.
