Crestrom CP3 and Cisco integration

We have integrated a Cisco C40 VC / 12X Camera unit with a Crestron CP3 3Series control system with touch screen.

All baud rates and com ports are adhered to and to summarise

1. We could not control the cameras from the touch screen initially

2. Issue was only resolved once all cables were unplugged/ reconnected again and system restarted several times.

Question.

1. What happened in the beginning when the unit was not responding as the Crestron unit showed that signal

was being sent to the Cisco unit via the RS232.

2. Thus far we have not encountered any issues.

Can we reliably confirm that the Cisco unit is henceforth trouble free?

3. Is it normal for the Remote control unit to lose functionality once a touch screen is connected.

                - In this case a Crestron touch screen

I know that when a Cisco touch screen is paired to the VC unit, it is only the touch screen control and vice versa

only the remote when the Cisco touch screen is unpaired

Please advice and thanks in advance

Cheers

You are correct, if a Cisco Touch 8 is connected to the codec, the remote control will no longer function, and you'd have to disconnect the touch panel to start using it again.  You could turn the IR sensor back on under Configuration > SystemUnit.

With that said, how are you controlling the C40, IR or RS232?

You should be using RS232 and utilizing the codec's API, refer to the C Series API Guides, there are also modules at Crestron's website.
