Service operational status is DOWN. Cisco Messaging Interface. The alert is generated on Wed Aug 15 17:11:37 CST 2012 on node 172.16.60.41.

Unless you are using CUCM SMDI (Voice Mail Integeration) you dont need to have that service enabled. You can go ahead and disable the service if above is true.

CMI is in charge of legacy VM integration. (Octel, avaya, etc)
