Hi,
I was trying to import group from AD for user administration and i couldn't get any directory group listed in the search. But i can see the security groups are listed over there.
Is it normal that security group can be import from AD not Directory group??? why???
Thanks & Regards,
Nikhil Jayan

It's not in the documentation, but I don't think you can import distribution lists, only security groups are supported. According to the TechNet article, https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc781446(v=ws.10).aspx.
Distribution groups can be used only with e-mail applications (such as Exchange) to send e-mail to collections of users. Distribution groups are not security-enabled, which means that they cannot be listed in discretionary access control lists (DACLs). If you need a group for controlling access to shared resources, create a security group.
