I plan to use IP/TV server in couple LAN segments. But i dont know nothing about licenzes. Is there licenzes for number of clients ? Is IP/TV viewer is free or is not ? My L3 switch do not support multicast routing and only have IGMP snooping. In this situation can i use multicast or every client must initiate a separate unicast stream? Thanks in advance

The IP/TV viewer is licensed by the server (free for all the users attaching to the server).

IGMP snooping won't help unless you have a router or L3 device you can snoop into.

Maybe the switch has a setting to router IP and bridge other protocols...maybe you can define multicast as an "other" protocol.

Or, if you can set up the equivalent to "IP HELPER" (a realy function) and if you get to define the parameters for what gets relayed, maybe you can configure that to make it work (slim chance, but a chance).

Other than that, perhaps you can set up a "Smallcast" to peripheral servers (on the other VLANs / Subnets) and re-transmit the multicast.

Good Luck
