Hi,
I am looking to scope out 100 Jabber for IPAD clients to just do video. What do I need from a back end infrastructure standpoint to make this work? I know the Jabber for Telepresence (MOVI) software is not available on the IPAD. Currently have a CUCM, CTMS and CTS Manager. My understanding is that the Jabber for IPAD won't work with CTS-Manager and you must also have a Cisco Presence Server to make this all work.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Mike

Hello Mike - Jabber for iPad does incorporate Jabber Video (Movi) within the application. You have two options to use Jabber Video for the iPad: Free Service or Corporate (Enterprise).
Free Service:
Uses the same cloud based service as http://ciscojabbervideo.com.
Corporate (Enterprise):
Uses the a TMS and VCS infrastructure.
This is very basic and not that detailed, due to having a meeting I have to go to right now, but I or someone else will be able to help fill in any blanks.

Thanks Patrick.
I read where you can use CUCM as well for the Jabber with IPAD. I was told that you need to use the CUPS servers as well to do IM/presence even if you only need the video option.

Your welcome, I wouldn't know of that deployment type, as we use a TMS and VCS deployment.

Hi Mike,
As patrick mentioned earlier yes you can have the jabber ipad used either with CUCM or in combination with TMS and VCS as well. it depends how you configure the jabber ipad software on the ipad client.
Regarding you query on the presence for jabber ipad yes you are right. for the jabber ipad presence it uses xmpp protocol which you can't use with TMS and VCS combination and hence with this deployment you will come across presence issue.
So its upto you which way you want to go. You can have provisioning for jabber ipad in both the ways
by the way may i know the CUCM version you have ??
Thanks
Alok

Thanks Alok and Patrick.
We are currently running CUCM 8.6. Can Jabber for IPAD use the CTMS for multipoint calls?

Hi Mike,
I don't see the Jabber ipad mentioned in the datasheet. the current endpoints supported
• Any combination of the following endpoints is supported:
– Cisco TelePresence System 3000 Series (three screens)
– Cisco TelePresence System TX 9000 Series (three screens)
– Cisco TelePresence System 1300 Series (single screen)
– Cisco TelePresence System Profile Series (single screen)
– Cisco TelePresence System EX Series (single screen)
– Cisco TelePresence System MX Series (single screen)
– Cisco TelePresence System 500 Series (single screen)
– Cisco Unified IP Phone 9900 Series Advanced Media (single screen)
– Cisco Unified IP Phone 7900 Series (voice only)
– External voice-only participants
However i logically think it should be able to..let me test it in the lab and will let you know.
Thanks
Alok

Hi Alok, thanks for running the test in your lab. I did talk with a Cisco SE and he was told that Jabber for IPAD will not work with the CTMS.
