New to Medianet

Hi All,

I'm new to Medianet and I need some advise regarding a new deployment that I am working on.

We have 2 new offices each with Cat 3560-X switches, these switches will connect back to a central data centre using metro ethernet but the switch that is terminating the connections is a HP procurve. We will be deploying Tandberg video conferencing units in each office and would like to make use of Medianet services to provide intelligent QoS. We are expecting another 10 offices to conenct to the data centres in the next 12 months each with video conferencing units and Cisco IP telephony.

Can anyone explain what applications I need to enable Medianet on the network? Does every device end-to-end need to support medianet services? Can Medianet work with just IOS based services or will I need applications such as Prime?

Thanks

Hi,

Please take a look at the datasheet at this link;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps10536/data_sheet_c78-612429.html

The datasheet will give you all the INFO you need to tell you which HW/SW support the Medianet features you desire.

So the Tandberg video endpoints will support MSI using TC & TE-6 coming soon.  MSI will allow the endpoint to announce Flow Metadata attributes into the network (Application_ID) such that QoS classification would key on Appl_ID to set QoS for these video/audio streams throughout the network. (Where Medianet is enabled.)

Be sure to look at the media monitoring features as well which proactively monitors the health of your network.  Go to our Medianet page for more details;
