TMSXN Questions

All,

I am working on a TMSXN integration for a customer and I have some questions, obviously

1) Does Cisco support using an existing RnR database for TMSXN?  If so, does loading the TMS template against an existing RnR database delete any fields?

2) If the customer uses Lotus to already schedule their conference rooms, now they want to do VTC scheduling too, via Lotus; how does one prevent double bookings?  Right now the customer can schedule the conference room, but not include the VTC and vice versa?

3) When adding the VTC systems to the RnR database, should you select 'Room' or 'Resource'?

Thank you,

Hi Justin,

I'm assuming you've read through the TMSXN Install and Getting Started doc:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/tmsxn/install_guide/Cisco_TMSXN_Installation_and_Getting_Started_Guide.pdf

Strongly recommend you follow the install part 'to the letter'

But  to possibly answer all 3 of your questions at one time, what you'll  need to do is either move these existing rooms from the RnR db they are  in now to the RnR db that you create for TMSXN and then make the  association/connection with the systems in TMS.

Alternatively,  you could remove the existing rooms from the RnR db they are in and  then rebuild them in the RnR db that you create during the TMSXN  install. However, you'd then obviously lose any existing bookings on these rooms  and then have to re-book them.

In essence, the room and VTC  system are one in the same...meaning you book the room, you get the VTC  system and vice versa. However, and not that I would recommend this, I  suppose you could have them separate but I don't see the logic/sense in  that.

rgds,

Dale

Dale,

Thanks for the reply.

The reason they have to have rooms separate from VTC systems is that they have these little Crestron controllers outside of each conference room that tells people the schedule for the room.

Back to my original question, if we apply the TMS template to their existing RnR database, will it delete any fields or just add new ones?

We did follow the install guide to the letter, currently we have the VTC systems in their own RnR.  However nothing is working, every time we get to the step of running the synchronizer, it fails saying something about cross certificate failure and the address book.

What about my last question, when you add a VTC system to the RnR database do you select Room or Resource?  There is nothing in the guide about this, it just says to add the system, period.

Back to my original question, if we apply the TMS template to their  existing RnR database, will it delete any fields or just add new ones?

- The main difference between a standard LN email template and the TMS template is an extra tab that provides advanced booking options. The relations between the Domino resources and the Cisco TMS resources are maintained by the Resource database template. Therefore, and if you have your VTC resources in separate RnR db, then I'm not sure why you want to apply the TMS template to their existing RnR db.

We did follow the install guide to the letter, currently we have the VTC  systems in their own RnR.  However nothing is working, every time we  get to the step of running the synchronizer, it fails saying something  about cross certificate failure and the address book.

- Hmmm...could be anything and keep in mind that this install is fairly 'tricky'...meaning if you miss or trip over the slightest thing, it may not work. In any case, I'd definitely need more details including server details, versions, etc. However, I reckon if it comes to this, then I recommend you open an SR with TAC.

What about my last question, when you add a VTC system to the RnR  database do you select Room or Resource?  There is nothing in the guide  about this, it just says to add the system, period.

- Room, page 26 in the current doc: Each system that will be bookable through Lotus Notes must be represented asa

Room within Domino.

And just a couple more things Justin:

- With regards to the cross certificate failure, have you ensured you signed the templates? See page 12 - 13 in the current install doc, i.e. section called 'signing the templates'. Just a possibilty

- And wrt updating mail template for Notes users, see page 27. Our recommendation is to utilize the TMS-modified standard mail templates that we provide. Ensure you utilize the correct version.

Dale,

Can we use their existing RnR database for the integration?  They currently have a 'room' added for all their rooms that VTC units in this database.  The question is if we change the RnR database template from the default to the TMS Template, will it screw up their existing Crestron reservation system?

Thanks,
Justin
