A quick question, are you able to use Wildcard certificates on Cisco VCS?
A customer has purchased a domain wildcard certificate from GoDaddy, and has asked if we can use this certificate for Cisco VCS.
I have looked through all the documentationa and forum posts, but there are not clear answers to this. When the customer tries to submit a CSR generated by VCS to the GoDaddy website, it throws up an error that a wildcard should expect a "*" in the Common Name, which obviously VCS does not.
Does anyone have experience who can shed some light on this question please?
Thanks
David

David,
When using the "Generate CSR" feature on the VCS in X7.2 and later, the subject name specified must be either the FQDN of the VCS (configured in DNS settings) or the FQDN of the VCS cluster (configured under clustering). The alternate CN field is an editable text box, so I imagine you could type whatever you want in there - however most CA's charge extra for alternate CN's.
You could always try to generate the certificate request manually using OpenSSL as described in page 13 of the Cisco VCS Certificate Use and Deplyoment Guide (
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/vcs/config_guide/Cisco_VCS_Certificate_Creation_and_Use_Deployment_Guide_X7-2.pdf). Using this methodology you can manually specify whatever CN you would want as it is manually specified instead of selected from a dropdown box. You can manually specify the CN in step 6 of the certificate creation process.

Hi, My company is working on installing their corporate wildcard certificate instead of UC SAN on VCS. Like to know this is possible or not and appreciate some one share their experience or guides.

Wildcard certificates aren't supported on the VCS/Expressway products. See the VCS Certificate Creation Guide starting on the bottom of pg 3 for an overview of the user of certificates. Wildcards are noted at the end of that section on pg 4.
