AVDS problem accessing mailstore error

sposte
Level 1
Level 1

I have a new install of 4.0(5)

Unity comes up with the default admin in subcribers.

However I get the following when attempting to add a new subscriber:

Error fetching MailStore list (for server MESSENGER).

hr=0x8004010F (0x8004010f)

Check that the AVDSGlobalCatalog is registered and running.

Permissions wizard and services wizard ran fine on install - also reran them anc checked service pwrds. Default admin is existing in ADUC so it was created with attributes.

Any ideas?

Give us a hand here.

Voicemail only configuration or UM?

Check to make sure that your Unity server can reach the server "mesenger" by DNS. go to the command prompt and ping messenger. Unity should be able to resolve this asap. If Unity can not, you have a DNS problem.

Check your NIC cards... if they are not set correctly, (Fault taulerent) then you will have problems also. Try it with on NIC for testing.

You should also have a Windows DC in your domain running windows active directory DNS. This will help with all your name resolution issues.

hopet this helps

Problem is resolved - to review:

Unity is UM mode on AD/Exch 2003

When logged in as UnityInstall the mailstores show up in permissions wizard and the wizard

runs with no errors.

However, if you login as UnityDirSvc, the mailstores don't appear in Exchange System manager

or when you run the DS test app in Unity tools.

We double checked that no policy was blocking rights on AD and the UnityDirSvc was Exchange Admin role.

The only way to have the account access the mailstores was to make it a Domain Admin group member.

I've never had to do this before. The customer mentioned that his Exchange server was not a

fresh 2003 install but had been upgraded from 5.5 to 2000 then 2003.

We also created a test account and made it an Exchange Admin but it also had the same

problem - could not view and access the mailstores until added to the Domain Admin group.

Bottom line is I will leave the permissions as they are.
