Cisco Unity 8.0 AD Schema Update

Hi All

I am in a very confusing situation here. I have a customer using CCM 8 with Unity 8.0.3. We are trying to install Unified messaging for them. The client domain is being used by various other Companies and one company has already installed unity 4.2 before with Unified messaging. Now this company had already run the AD schema Update for the current domain once. The Client found the attributes already present. Now during Unity 8.0 Installation for another Company using the same Domain, we didnt do the AD schema update(as it was done once before) and tried to do the permission Wizard, but we got an error stating Ad schema update has to be done. Now the question from the client is if we run the AD schema update again, will it effect the already installed Unity 4.2 ?

If not can anyone provide with a reason why ?

Thanks & Regards

Azeem

No, it won't affect any previous version of Unity. The AD schema is backwards compatible, it will only add the new fields Unity 8.0 uses and if there are already fields in AD from a previous Unity install they will remain intact.

If you look at the install instructions you should have done this as it's a mandatory step.
