Good Morning
I have seen that a solid amount of documentation can be found to upgrade cisco unity mailstore (using the permissions wizard - mapi cdo) to MS Exchange 2010 rom Exch 2007 - but we now want to get cisco unity to be used on a handset only basis (its currently linked with exch 2010).
Can you guys please put your heads together and help me look into the process involved in doing this?
Essentially, i would have thought its a matter of terminating the mailstore - and uninstalling some exchange related tools?
I would be hugely thankful if you guys could help me out on this?
Kindest Regards
Imran

Hi,
If you are using Unity instead of Unity Connection this cannot be done, Exchange is the only mailstore for Unity, now if are you currently using Unified Messaging, (VM on your outlook email Inbox), you could switch to VM Only, on this type of deployment you still use Exchange as your mailbox store but you have a separate Inbox for VM so you can only check your VM using the handset, (no Outlook integration anymore), this can be done even if you are using Unified Messaging licenses, or you may switch the lic file.
Hope this helps

Exactly what i want to do - make it handset only! thankyou.
So how do I create that voicemail box in exchange?
Do you do it in the permissions wizard?

Hi,
Basically you need to configure a second mailbox for each VM user, (use a different username on LDAP) and hide this on the directory so people don't get confused when looking for someone on the Outlook directory, I recommend you to create these on a separate mailbox store in Exchange and point Unity to that using the unity's mailbox store wizard, also make sure that PW is run against these.
Hope this helps.
