CUC SMTP smart host

Hello, in order to send email notifications of CUC messages, I see I need to set up an SMTP smart host.

Is an SMTP smart host simply an SMTP server operating in a proxy fashion ?

Does anyone have any suggestions of a simple Windows SMTP smart-host freeware package I can download ?

The smart host option is usually used in instances where you would want UC to send text based messages for notification alerts (think of it as the Text Pager from the old Unity days).  The SMTP server will just have to be setup to accept messages from UC.  You can use any SMTP compatible device, just use the Connection Messaging Assistant for the intial setup.
