CUSM 1040 Sensors

We have Cisco Unified Service Monitor, when I plugged the 1040 sensor to the 3560 Gig Switch, it connected just fine by giving me an IP address and registering to the Service Monitor. But when I connect the same sensor to a 3550 PoE switch, the sensor continuously reboots. Not quite sure what is happenning here.

The 1040 uses DHCP to locate its IP and a tftp server , which is then downloads its firmware and configuration. You must setup option 150 dhcp in your environment and then register the 1040 in Service Monitor. cehck if the switch is configured for the right VLAN

You can refer this section for setting up the CUSM sensor with switch:

The 1040 supports Power over Ethernet (POE) using the 802.3af standard. Some older model switches support POE but are not 802.3af compliant.

In particular, the Cisco POE standard which pre-dates the 802.3af standard will assert power for a limited time and then turn it off if the device does not reply as expected. This behavior can be corrected by setting the POE delay properly.

The solution is to enter the following command for the management interface.

"power inline delay shutdown 20 initial 300"
