When I run setup.exe for EMS, it keeps asking me to update files and reboot. I say OK, and reboot after it updates, run setup.exe again, and same thing

Give this a try. Open up the setup.lst file in notepad, find the line with msvcrt.dll and place a ; (semicolon) in front of that line and try the setup again.

While you are trying that I'll rebuild the setup to not have that file.

BTW: The reason this file is being updated is because the msvcrt.dll included is from SP4.

A couple of questions:

What is your OS version (use winver) and give me the version, build and SP?

At what point in the setup does it ask you to reboot? Is it right after the "Copying Files Please Standby" dialog or sometime later?

Check your C:\Program Files\Event Monitoring Service directory for ST6UNST.??? files. If you have these files post the most recent one.

Windows version 5.0 build 2195 Sevice pack 3

Yes, it is right after "Copying Files Please standby. Processing msvcrt.dll (3 of 3)"

There is not Event Monitoring Service directory under program files.

That did it. Thanks for the quick responces.
