Migrate CUCM,CUP and CUC VM from Dell physical server to a UCS

Hello all,

We have 3 virtual machines in a physical Dell server, we want to migrate these virtual machines to a UCS server .

Dell Physical Server :

Model : PowerEdge M610

UCS : UCS B200 M4   version 3.0 (2c)

I was wondering if we just have to copy all vm files to another sever  or there is another procedure to do this ..and also will we need new vmware licences?

Thanks a lot !!

Regards!

ESXi licensing is up to you, you could have bought it along with the UCS, or buy directly from VMWare, but you need licensing.

As to the movement, if you have vCenter, you can move the VMs using it (vMotion and/or Storage vMotion), or if not, you can do a cold migration.

Thanks Jaime!

How Can we do a cold migration ? is like .. copy-paste de VMs?

Also another doubt ...should we re-host cucm lincensing? or how it works in a server migration?

once again, thanks a lot !

Regards

A cold migration means you'll shutdown the VMs, and download all the related files from one server, then upload to the other server, register the VMs, and use them.

Some people also refer to cold migration as using vMotion and/or Storage vMotion with the VMs shutdown.

No, licensing will not change.
