Migrating from VMO to UM

I am planning a migration from a voice message only server to a unified messaging system. I launched the MSD tool and it does not see the other e-mail servers in the domain that the new Unified messaging server will be installed into. has anyone used the MSD tool with success?

Not sure if this is true or not, but one way we are thinking about is using the Quest Migration tools to migrate the users VMO mailboxes from the Unity Exchange server to their Exchange mailbox on the other domain. Now, it's just a matter of hooking Unity back up to the Exchange Server. Possible a new Unity server, connected to the new Exchange server, export DIRT, import DIRT.... I'm not sure how the domain settings take place with DIRT, because I think DIRT just grabs the settings, database of subscribers, etc. So essentially, you should be able to reinstall on a new server. Repoint your CCM to the new Unity server.

I could be completely out of line.... but something to check out.
