I have a requirement to play G729 Unity messages in an application other than viewmail. We have a Magic Help Desk system that will include an attachment with a help desk ticket. Since the attachement is a voicemail using the G729 codec, the message cannot be played.
I know the G729 codec is licensed. Has anyone had any luck with using other applications such as windows media player or similar applications? We are prepared to pay for any licensing fees.
Thanks,
Marco

Do these desktops have VMO installed on them at all? When VMO is installed it installs the g.729 codec. You can also run sl_g729a_setup.exe from the utilities directory on Unity CD1. As I recall, once the codec is on there, apps like Windows Media Player can decode them.
I converted to Mac a year back so I can't tell you for sure easily.
Let me know if that works.
Thanks,
Keith

Thanks Keith, that did the trick. I do have VMO installed, but that only works if the voice message is received via outlook. I intalled the .exe from CD1\utilities and it allowed me to play the g729 message from media player.
Thanks again,
Marco
