Unity 4.1 ES11 Unified with Exchange 2003 SP1 offbox.
I have a situation where if you were to log into your Unity mailbox and choose the option "send a message" to send a message to another internal person, the recipient would see in Outlook, "Message from 1234" instead of "Message from SenderName". The same goes if you were to listen to the voicemail, it would say "Message from 1234".
If the same sender would call the recipient and leave a message when prompted, the recipient would get the normal "Message from SenderName" in Outlook and Unity.
Is this normal operation? If not, what do I do to fix it? Thanks.

No, the message should always be sent from the person who was logged in. So is it just the subject line that is not correct? In other words in both cases the message is actually left from the subscriber in question (i.e. the recipient can just reply to it) but the subject line is not formatted correctly? Or is the sender in the first scenario the "Unity messaging system" mailbox?
also, are both users subscribers on the same Unity server? Or is this a multiple server setup with digital networking or VPIM or something of that nature?

Please let me correct myself. When you send a message from Unity to someone on the same Unity server, the recipient sees in the subject "Message from 1234", but the From field shows the correct sender. When checking from the phone, it correctly states "message from SenderName".
I guess the requests I got was why can't the subject also show the sender's name instead of the directory number? I think I know the answer, but I'd like to see your responses first.
All subscribers are on same Unity server. Thanks again.

Ah - ok, that makes more sense. Yes, this was a bug with how subject lines are created in various scenarios - most of that was cleaned up with the 4.2(1) release and, in fact, you can customize what the subject lines looks like for each of the 4 types of messages if you like. The training videos for the 4.2(1) release includes one for the subject line changes - you can check it out here:
