if I create two devices and not configure any chain/cascade, is it chain or cascade by default?
I have such a configuration now and text message notification not work:
The first device is home phone and phone number is configured but disabled. The second device is text paging, email address is configured and enabled. however text message notification not work. (fYI,i have another mailbox, only configured text message notification to another email address and works, which means the smtp and mail delivery system is oK). Based on the above information, is it possible to guess that message try to use the first device but it disabled and never gets to the 2nd device? obviously I'll try to remove the first device to do more test. But you guys may have experience and good theory on it. Thanks

No, the notification devices don't chain automatically in any way and aren't dependant on each other out of the box. You can configure all your devices to all trigger independantly (i.e. a new urgent voice mail comes in and 7 devices kick out notifications) - you _can_ chain them together if you'd like but it's not required and it's not default.
If the SMTP notification isn't working it's likely a configuraiton issue - if you turn on the notification trigger to a phone device for the same user on the same message types, does it dial the phone? If so, dimes to dollars the connection to the SMTP gateway from Untiy's side of the pond isn't flying right.

phone notification also not work. I test message notification (both phone and text) using the other voicemail box and it's fine. I doubt this mailbox maybe screwed. I may want to delete it and recreate it. Is there a way to find out whether this mailbox miss some unity related attributes and not working?

I fixed the problem by logging on anther account. I used to logon unity with my domain admin account which is also unity administrator(assigned in the adminstrator COS). What I am not clear is why I can use this accoutn create subscriber and configure message notification but message notification not work.is this permission issue?

No, if you have access to the SA with any account, the behavior should be the same - the rights necessary for creating objects in the directory and updating SQL etc... are done through the accounts assigned to the services in the SCM, not the account you've logged into the SA with. All your login account does is get you into the SA or not via your COS assignement.
I'm not sure what you have going on there but it's not likely related to which account you accessed the SA with.

Before I post the above thread, I opened case with Cisco. I told him that I logged on SA with my AD accoutn(an COS assigned administrator )and create new user but message notification not work for any new user. He immediatly asked me to logon using unityadmin account.I said in theory this shouldn't matter. But he still insist saying that there is permission issue with my account though it's cos assigned admin.
Then I want to use unityadmin ,but for some reason my colleague said unityadmin had some problem before, instead I logged on his account and after that message notification works for any newly created account. Is this weird? Thanks
