This is rather a design question or need to know the best practise for Hardware Resources in conferecing and transcoding.
we have a Centralized mega cluster with thousand of colour phones distributed in the whole region with hundereds of branches around connected thru MPLS backbone.
Each branch have a 2900/3900 series of router with PVDM3-16 module. We have G711 a/u law and G729 codec with single centralized GW to PSTN thru sip trunk. Every thing is SIP : CUCM version 91.2 . interregion codec is 729 , but pstn sip trunk is g711.
Having said that , iam looking for the best practise to implemnent the transcoding and conferecing resource to all. Even MoH is also there.
the question arise is . 1. Should i go with distributed DSP resources on 2900/3900 configured as MRGL on branch router and assign this mrgl to respective site's phones.
2. Should i go with CMM module to be placed in DataCenter 6500 Switch and assign the centralized resources to branches thru mrgl.
( Cisco WS-SVC-CMM-ACT )
An use full suggestion is appriceated !
