UNity 315, offbox exchange 55, NT 4.0. Unity has raid 1 disk(2 mirrored disks). If I remove one disk(say B) and do an unity uninstall on the remainging drive, say A.Then remove the A and put pack the B. Will the unity still ok? I am wondering if I uninstall unity on disk A, it actually remove the unity related attributes from the exchange mailbox. so if put drive B back, it shouldn't work, unless the unity will fix the attribute on the fly? Thanks

No, you wont be OK - the uninstall will remove user properties off the subscriber objects in the directory and remove the location objects (which identify multiple Unity servers on a network) etc... when you put your drive back your system will not be functional any longer. Unity will no automatically create missing objects and force attributes onto subscriber objects and such on the fly.

Why is it you're wanting to do this?

This actually is a thought following up this post

On that thread you mentioned if use dirt to restore on a new server ,it will auto uninstall (or unsssociate the malboxes)the previous unity server. So I think I can uninstall one drive, then in case dirt restore doesn't work on the new server I still can have the old server back. But apparantely it won't work . Anyway, thanks lot.

DiRT does a bunch of legwork to make the objects recreate in the directory or bind to existing objects in the directory if they are there already... just popping the drive back in wont do that.
