Does anyone have a document which discusses strategies surrounding unity backup (4.2.1)?
Has anyone used NetBackup?
Does anyone have a document which shows what needs to be backed up?

TAC supports the use of the DiRT backup and restore utility which can be found here:

Along with what Brad said with DIRT, you have basically 3 supported options:
DIRT - which backs up the SQL database and message store messages. (PST files) See help files on this page and even a video!

Spare Drive method: Some customers will order a spare drive or (2). Since they are mirrored, you can pull one drive, set it aside. In the vent of a blowout, you can boot off that spare srive.
