I have a live CUC 8.5.1 system and I need to export the users, passwords, greetings, messages, etc. to a CUC 8.6.1a.
What would be the best way to do this, if possible?
I know I can BAT migrate the users with mailbox, but will this affect the live system? For example, if I export all users will that delete the users from the live server?
Also, I know that there is a utility called Cobra for exporting/importing messages. Is that something I can use for this?
Thanks!

Yes, COBRAS would be the tool to use here:
http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/General/COBRAS/COBRAS.html
you can do exports from your live system with no changes being made to it - it will import MUCH more data than BAT and give you more control over what/how it's imported.
help file and training videos on the page should get you started.

yes, you do - you have to turn on the ODBC Proxy service (which is what the error is mentioning) - the help file goes into some detail about what you need to enable on the Connection server before you can attach COBRAS (or any off box tool) for data services.

It shouldn't take very long at all to start... have you reviewed all of the required preparation steps outlined here: http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/General/COBRAS/Help/COBRAS_Briefcase/COBRAS_Briefcase.htm#_Toc276653850
You may have missed the part where you need to configure the shutdown timer.

COBRAS won't delete any users, it's only backup/restore.

Thanks! I'm downloading now and I'll give it a shot. I'll repost soon to let you know how I make out.

I'm getting a connection error:
"Login to remote Connection server via ODBC failed
Error number=-2147217843
System error -908 This usally means the server is not found or that the ODBC Proxy is not enabled or cannot be reached on port 20532. Make sure that port is not being blocked, that the database proxy service is currently active and running and that the server name can be resolved properly from this Windows machine. Please review the help file for confguration and troubleshooting assistance."
I can ping the box and I've installed the ODBC driver's on my 64-bit machine via the 64-bit install .bat.
Do I have to do anything on the UC server to allow for the export?

I'm trying to start the database proxy service now. I've activated the service and now after starting it the status has been ""Service In Transition" for about 30 minutes. I'll grab lunch and see what happens when I'm gone. Thanks again for the help.

Thank you! That did it.
One last question...I'm using COBRAS Export utility version 1.0 Build 86. Running this is the "briefcase" export and won't delete the current users on the server, correct?

COBRAS won't delete any users, it's only backup/restore.

Thanks again. This is the first time I've used this and I don't want to screw up the live environment while I'm working on the replacement system.

Glad it helped.
