Unity Connection upgrade

Hi all have a question presently running UCX10.5.1 want to upgrade to 11.5.3SU3A there is a memory change from 6 G to 8G im thinking i could shut down vm`s change memory to 8 power back up and do the upgrade i have a tac case ongoing and being told by tac i have to build 2 new vm`s with  the 11.5.1 matching ova and do a drs restore .

Not sure why you would have to build a new cluster just to increase the memory for a upgrade.

Any thoughts would be appreciated ????

I have had  similar upgrade on cer 10.5.1 to 11.5.1 without any problems shutting them down to increase the memory and preforming the upgrade ...

Assuming that is the ONLY change (add vRAM), and you DO NOT require to modify the vCPUs, then that's supported

Support for adding virtual hardware resources (similar to moving from a less powerful server to a more powerful server, such as MCS 7825 -> MCS 7845) depends on which resource, and which UC product:

  • Adding vCPU is supported for all apps except Unity Connection, but requires VM to be shutdown first.
  • Adding vRAM is supported but requires VM to be shutdown first.
  • Adding vDisk is not supported as it would require re-partitioning by the application.
  • Adding vNIC is not supported unless the UC app supports multiple network connections with different IP addresses. See best practices for Multiple Physical NICs and vNICs.
