Unity 4.03 with a Failover server. Off box Exchange. Customer called they needed more licenses. We recieved them and I placed them on the Primary server which went fine. It went from 300 to 350. I brought up the Failover server license info viewer to find that it shows 300 licensed but 269 utilized and then with and error saying that "the Licenses installed in this cisco Unity Location have not been updated for 60 days. Ciso Unity will stop answering calls every four hours, and you will need to manually restart the Cisco Unity Services." What does this mean. I thought it got all its licensing from the primary. It should have been 300lic and 300 used and now 350lic and 300 used. ?

That error message is referenced in the Cisco Unity Failover Configuration and Administration Guide (with Microsoft Exchange) available at the time of this posting at:

http://www.cisco.com/application/pdf/en/us/guest/products/ps4608/c2001/ccmigration_09186a00801b923b.pdf

Look for the section entitled "Licensing Restrictions on Using a Secondary Server Without a Primary Server".

It's a Unity failover licensing safeguard to prevent the use of a failover server as an alternate primary server.

Hope that helps,
