Unity IP FAX questions

I have a couple of questions on the "free" Unity IP FAX capability.

1. What document types will IP FAX render, i.e. .doc .ppt .rtf .xls .pdf etc and is the capability for a particular Microsoft product i.e. Office 2000 Office XP etc? Will it render docs with graphics in? I looked through the help files (and the neat training video) and I can see you can select doc types to be rendered or excluded, but no other detail.

2. I assume from what I have read, that you need a seperate gwy to use IP Fax, if you have a Call Manager integration and the gwy is MGCP. What if the CM uses an H.323 gwy, can you share that with Unity IP Fax?

3. Are there any plans to allow Unity integrated with CM to send/receive Fax over the CM gateways "owned/registered" with CM using MGCP for example. In other words treat a CM SCCP port like a phone line.

When I talk to customers, there is an assumption that IP Fax should be able to use the IP PBX (i.e. CM) trunks as their analogue FAX machines do with the TDM PBX. The need for a seperate gwy and ISDN trunk is a stumbling block.

Thanks

Tim

(hope I got my facts right!)

1. Officially, we support any applications that are on the default unity server, plus supported 3rd party apps. That means that for .doc, the document has to be able to be rendered via wordpad. PDF, TXT, RTF, HTML, should all be fine, as well. We don't officially support loading MS Office on the Unity server, so those aren't suported.

2. You can only use an H.323 gateway. MGCP isn't supported. You can use that same gateway for regular voice calls (with or without CCM) but it must be H323.

3. No plans. This feature uses T.37, which means that the gateway will terminate the call and initiate the fax negotiation.
